FAQs

What is Concerted?

Concerted is a nonprofit organization that connects people who want to make a difference in their communities with opportunities to give back; in exchange for donating their time, Concerted gives volunteers free access to some of the most exciting events and experiences in their city. Give back. Get tickets.

Wait. So, you're saying if I volunteer, you'll give me free tickets to the event of my choice? Why?

We believe that small acts are a catalyst for change. Sometimes, knowing how to help can feel overwhelming — we want to make it easy for people to make an impact, starting right in their own backyard. As our hero, Maya Angelou, said, "We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." We hope that, in volunteering, you will meet people you might not have met otherwise. The way we see it, providing free access to live experiences is another way to connect the community while allowing us to express our thanks to you for being a part of our growing volunteer movement!

How does it work?

Concerted volunteers have access to our database, which is filled with opportunities to give back, so you can choose a time and date that work for you and a cause you're passionate about (animals, environmentalism, food insecurity, and more). The process is simple: volunteers log on to Concerted's database, register for upcoming service event(s), and then show up to help on the relevant date and time. Afterward, the nonprofit host confirms that you participated in the event, and your Concerted Wallet automatically updates the number of hours you worked. Every hour is like money that you can "cash in" for free tickets to experiences in your area.

What kinds of experiences can I exchange my volunteer hours for?

We partner with a wide range of promoters and venues to offer access to the most exciting live entertainment like concerts, sports, comedy, art and cultural events, and more. While we strive to provide diverse options so that there's something for everybody, if you don't see your favorite venue or genre listed, please drop us a line feedback@concertedusa.org and suggest it!

Why do you ask for my phone number?

For a couple of reasons! First, some of our tickets will be sent digitally to your mobile number. Second, when you register with our database, we'll sign you up to receive occasional texts about events based on what you've told us about your preferences. Texting is the fastest way to let you know when we get last-minute or limited tickets to some of the most sought-after events in your city so you can reserve your tickets while they last. We won't spam you, and you can opt-out at any time, but the more you engage with the database, the better we'll understand what you’re into, so you're the first to know when we have drops.

Volunteering

How is volunteering actually going to help the community?

Concerted acknowledges that volunteering isn’t the full answer to systemic change, but it is a step in the right direction. We believe (and science shows) that engagement in the community leads to increased tolerance for others, increased awareness of community and civic happenings, and increased sense of community and belonging. We sincerely believe that it is hard to hate your neighbor if you truly know them.

Is there a cap on how many hours I can volunteer every year?

Nah - if you have time to give back to your community, go nuts! We even have some exclusive treats for people who go above and beyond.

Can I use some of my hours to get a spare ticket to an event so I can bring a friend?

We understand that experiences are best when shared, but Concerted exists to support the incredible organizations doing the work to lift our communities. That's why we encourage you to invite a friend or get a group of friends together for volunteer events. Not only will you make a real impact in your city while making great memories, but you can celebrate your hard work later by cashing in hours to a free experience of your choice.

I want to help, but I don't have time to volunteer. How can I support organizations in my community?

Thanks for asking! While we do our best to decrease barriers to volunteering (including partnering with nonprofits that operate in every neighborhood across the city), we understand that donating your time is not always an option. Concerted accepts donations, and these funds are split evenly between our nonprofit partners regularly throughout the year. Funding allows nonprofits to operate and continue supporting the community, so your donations are significant and appreciated!

Community Partners

I run a nonprofit. How can we get involved with Concerted?

Awesome! If you would like to partner with Concerted by hosting service opportunities, go ahead and sign up for a nonprofit account. Someone from our team will reach out to onboard you as soon as possible! We can't wait to support you and your missions.

What are the benefits of partnering with Concerted?

Concerted aims to elevate the missions and work of nonprofits. Not only will you receive volunteer hours for the projects of your choosing, but you will also receive storytelling through our social media channels and donations from our year-round fundraising efforts.

We have our own volunteer sign-up page on our nonprofit website. Can we use that instead of posting on Concerted’s website?

We understand that you might have existing channels for volunteers, but service opportunities must be listed on Concerted’s website in order to track the hours for each ticket. Nonprofit partners will be responsible for verifying that volunteers showed up for their service opportunities and will have a user-friendly portal to do so.

How do I post my own volunteer opportunity?

Once you have been onboarded with your nonprofit account, you will be able to post service opportunities to Concerted volunteers. You will be able to include date, time, location, amount of volunteers needed (including a capped amount), hours of service expected, a description of work and any other pertinent information! You will be emailed a full list of volunteers 24 hours prior to the service event.

Accessibility

How is Concerted working to be accessible to all socioeconomic levels?

Historically, live events and concerts have not been accessible to many people. Concerted is working to provide service opportunities in every neighborhood to reduce barriers around getting service hours in. We also acknowledge that we don’t know everything —if you have ideas on how to make Concerted more accessible to everyone, we want to hear from you. Drop us a line at feedback@concertedusa.org.

What if I have limited access to a vehicle on the day of the event?

Concerted has a working partnership with local transit in every city we work in. We provide free public transit to and from both volunteer events and live events. Why? We believe that access to a vehicle should not limit your ability to meaningfully connect with your community.
